Booth SU8511, NAB, Las Vegas – 16th April 2007: Pro-Bel continues to expand the level of integration achievable with a next generation automation system with the news that it has developed a MOS (Media Object Server) Gateway for its Morpheus product. By working closely with experts in the field, its new gateway allows customers to take advantage of all the functionality possible in the latest versions of MOS.
MOS – which has traditionally provided an open access interface between newsroom computer systems and third party devices – can also be used to provide real-time two-way communication between any suitably equipped scheduling system and Morpheus.
Pro-Bel’s MOS Gateway allows the operator of any third party system instant access to the running order within Morpheus, facilitating, for example, the changing of the order, deletion or substitution of content within a running schedule. “By using the Pro-Bel MOS Gateway an operator can use a newsroom system to instantly update the running schedule within Morpheus, there is no need to publish and load XML schedule files to update the running order. It provides a tremendously fluid and flexible way of working,” explains Dave Collins, Chief Technical Officer.
The MOS Gateway allows two-way communication, therefore Morpheus can provide up-to-the-second information regarding the media it has within its control. For example, in a file based workflow where content is delivered electronically a newsroom system may not know that material has actually arrived, whereas Morpheus will and can pass that information onwards. From a media management perspective, it ensures that the content available to the playout devices remains firmly in sync across the two systems.
“The Pro-Bel MOS Gateway is a powerful tool that provides levels of functionality beyond the norm. Once again we have listened to our customers and have responded appropriately. It is not simply about news; it is for any customer who wants their back-end scheduling system to have a live connection into the Morpheus schedule,” concludes Collins.
