Reading, UK – 15th February 2006: Pro-Bel, a premier manufacturer and supplier of routing switchers, modular infrastructure, master control, automation and workflow technologies, has announced that Cable Servicios Del Sur, a Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. Company, has selected its Morpheus automation and media management solution to sit at the heart of a new playout and transmission facility in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), a Time Warner company, has established itself in recent years as a key broadcaster across Latin America. Prior to the opening of its facility in Buenos Aires, all broadcast-related services for the Turner channels were handled from its headquarters in Atlanta.
Eleven Latin American network feeds are being broadcast from Buenos Aires, supplying a wide range of ever-popular Turner channels across the region in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
Pro-Bel’s Morpheus automation and media management technology has been installed across these eleven channels. As well as handling the complex playout, the system allows material to be transferred from Atlanta to Buenos Aires and vice versa in an efficient and easily controllable manner. TBS, Inc. has previously installed Morpheus in its Atlanta facility as well as earlier generations of Pro-Bel automation technology.
With Morpheus, Pro-Bel has taken automated playout back to the drawing board and designed an architecture that not only supports advanced playout of conventional content, but a wide range of multi-media and data-based material. Morpheus also brings new levels of intelligence to the sharing of playout devices and transmission resources between channels, using sophisticated management software. Devices can be allocated to playout streams manually or automatically according to user-defined parameters. Device usage is constantly monitored, ensuring scheduling conflicts are instantly reported and centrally managed across multiple channels.
With the ability to dynamically allocate playout channels to different operator positions – including the automatic switching of video and audio monitoring, the control surfaces and PC screen – Morpheus brings new levels of flexibility to the transmission environment.
Pro-Bel Group CEO Graham Pitman concludes, “We are delighted that Cable Servicios Del Sur has selected our technology for such a milestone in its development. We are confident that Morpheus automation and media management sets a new standard, providing operational efficiency and reliability that is impossible to ignore in today’s highly competitive broadcast market.”
