The ViewNet Gateway could be all you need to build a sophisticated control system for Pro-Bel’s Vistek range. It is supplied with a standard set of ‘physical’ screens, so that you can control modules ‘straight out of the box’. However, the real power of ViewNet lies in the concept of Virtual Modules, an application that allows users to build their own control screens.
Virtual Module Builder (VNSMB) consists of two software applications that appear to the user as a single activity. One part is a very clever graphics system which allows you to manipulate the actual display of controls. The other part links those controls to specific modules in the system, establishing the functionality of the controls in each display. Displays can consiste of almost any graphics that will conventionally display in a web browser window and because Virtual Module Builder allows you to manipulate the assignment of control functionality, any of those graphic elements can be made ‘hot’ to any control. The controls available can be configured in a variety of ways to suite your application. For example, in some situations selecting a particular state for a module might best be done from a set of push buttons, for other situations this might best be achieved by clicking on a item in a list box. Selecting how a control will appear - as button, list box, or anything else - is just a couple of clicks. Controls can also be dynamic - either only visible when needed or active, or visible as a result of some other intervention.

ViewNet Gateway (V6001) is a hardware unit, designed to provide a link between an Ethernet/IP environment and Vistek’s DART control system. The unit is packaged in a 1RU rack mount frame, and has just 2 connections for normal operation, one to the Ethernet network and one to the DART network. Provision is also made for serial or parallel connections for external alarms or communication. In standard form the eV6001 would allow third party control systems to communicate with any V1600 series module via a simple SML-based protocol. This allows speedy development of control system links. Each V6001 can control a single DART network (up to 62 nodes). For larger systems, it is possible to run multiple instances of the V6001, controlling them as if they were a single unit.

The ViewNet Multiport (V6005) unit can connect multiple DARTnet networks, via RS232 serial and TCP/IP, such that they may be viewed as a single network by V6001 ViewNet Gateways and V1602/V1605 Operational Control Panels. Where there are a significant number of remote DARTnets, the ViewNet Multiport may be a more cost effective means of consolidating control, than multiple ViewNet Gateways, with the added benefits of operational control panel compatibility. Each basic V6005 unit is equipped with 2 serial ports which may be used to connect directly to V1602 or V1605 control panels. In addition the V6005 is equipped with up to 64 serial ports (RJ-45) each of which can communicate with the V6401 DARTnet adaptor (or to the predecessor of the V6041, the DIN341).

The ViewNet Event Manager (VNSEV) offers a sophisticated scripting engine to extend the range of operations that the ViewNet Control System can support. It allows controls to respond to internal and external stimuli - making the whole control operation truly interactive if required. It can also operate at a much more mundane level - for example providing a mechanism for ganging controls in a variety of ways.

The Vistek GPI Interface (V1698) is fully compatible with the V1600 range of modules and provides enhanced control as an interface or stand alone controller.
