IMPLEMENTATION OF WEEE AND ROHS DIRECTIVES
Approach
Pro-Bel develops products that are safe to use, make efficient use of resources, and which can be reused and/or recycled and disposed of safely. We appoint competent people to assist us in meeting are statutory duties including, where appropriate, specialists from outside the organisation.
Policy
Pro-Bel manages its business and is collaborating with our suppliers to comply with the European Union Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“RoHS”) Directive (2002/95/EC), that came into force July 1, 2006 and similar restrictions in other jurisdictions. The RoHS directive prohibits the sale of electronic equipment containing certain hazardous substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (“PBB”) and polybrominated diphenylethers (“PBDE”) above certain minimum levels in the European Union.
Requirements to adhere to the “Administration on the control of pollution caused by electronic equipment information products 39” commonly known as “China WEEE” are also in place. All products supplied to the Chinese market will be suitably compliant.
To ensure safe management and disposal of electronic waste Pro-Bel has registered with the Environment Agency, registration number WEE/KB0050TZ and is fully compliant with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. We are a member of the B2B compliance scheme, which will handle our WEEE obligations on our behalf. Any customer who has waste electronic equipment should contact our support department where will be able to advise on the correct and safe disposal of unwanted equipment.
Methodology
Compliance with all relevant legislation, taking into account any appropriate exemptions, is achieved based on competent design and manufacture and on assurances from suppliers of components, sub assemblies and other items which form an integral part of the products we supply. Products are not routinely tested and this declaration of compliance reflects our best endeavours and our due diligence to ensure, as far as is reasonably possible, that our products are compliant.

Pro-Bel has taken and continues to take reasonable steps to provide representative and accurate information but may not have conducted destructive testing or chemical analysis on incoming materials and substances. In no event shall Pro-Bel liability arising out of such information exceed the total purchase price of the product supplied.
